In early 2008 The Swellers toured with our local friends Fireworks. We brought a band called Sydney from Canada on the tour as well.

This picture is our time in Orlando at a place called The Hospital where we were going to get free food after a show, we all fit in an elevator (3 bands and friends worth of people) and had a hilarious time.

Why this picture is crazy? We are on tour with Fireworks right now. Anto from the band Sydney is now in our band. So we are all on tour again. AND ANTO HAS DIFFERENT HAIR WHOAAAAAA.

The Road To Warped (Day 1)

Today started out semi-stressful and ended up being amazing. Woke up, luckily had my bags packed so I just had to throw them in our van, then drove down the street to meet up with the humongous tour bus waiting for us. That’s right, a tour bus picking us up in Flint, MI. Hilarious. Me, Nick, Chris Speer (merch) and Kenny (our manager / tour manager) boarded our new home for the next month and stocked it up with food.

Got everything packed up, drove to Rochester, MI to meet up at 37 Studios with Ryan, Anto and the guys from I See Stars. Matt Dalton who owns said studio, where I recorded drums on “Ups and Downsizing”, is actually tour managing I See Stars so it’s good not only having a familiar face, but a Michigander keeping our (gold) bond strong.

The dudes in I See Stars are really nice. Our driver Jaime (sp?) is really cool. And things like having to pull over to pee, walk around and stretch or switch drivers don’t exist anymore. It’s so bizarre. There’s a front and back lounge with nice TVs. We unofficially claimed the front while ISS boys are in the back. Got to watch WWF Survivor Series from 1995, Nothing To Lose (with Martin Lawrence who is AMAZING), Shaun Of The Dead and lots of Simpsons.

The bunks are another crazy thing. I called bottom bunk which I am so happy with. I got one of the bunks with a fold down screen and DVD player. So I watched most of The Big Lebowski then watched some True Blood on my computer. It’s like a comfortable coffin once you close the curtain. More than enough room to stretch my legs, fit my huge assed backpack next to me and all my goodies. I don’t feel like a hoarder because I at least get to seal off my living area with this handy curtain.

Another perk that people in bands look for is 2 outlets in every bunk. When you go to stay at someone’s house or a hotel, green room, wherever, you always look for an outlet to plug all of your crap in. Face it, we’re reliant on technology and having a charged phone and computer is the best.

We’re doing three twelve-hours days straight of driving from Michigan to California. Lots of time to kill. Oh yeah, and there’s wireless internet. This is so cool.

More updates tomorrow. I’ll try to explain the day to day routine once Warped starts as well.

Time to work on lyrics. NIGHT.
